rSOC DSC fuel cells
Groundbreaking approach to solid oxide cells
Unique technology
Our patented double-sided SOFC rDSC cell technology significantly increases the active cell area, resulting in higher power output in a compact size. All-ceramic construction eliminates the need for metallic interconnects, minimizing the risk of degradation associated with chromium poisoning of the cathode - a problem common to traditional SOFC and SOEC solutions.
REVERSIBLE MODE OF OPERATION AND FUEL FLEXIBILITY
The rDSC cells manufactured at HydrogenTech feature a wide range of applications. They can function as fuel cells powered by hydrogen, natural gas or biogas, providing high performance without technological compromise. In addition, rDSC cell stacks can operate in the mode of water electrolysis enabling hydrogen production. Thanks to their high operating temperature, it is possible to integrate them into waste heat-generating processes, which will increase energy efficiency and reduce the operating costs of your system.
POWER TAILORED TO THE NEEDS OF THE APPLICATION
The cell manufacturing method and stack design we have developed enable stacks to be customized in a wide power range to suit the customer's needs. This ranges from small 100 W stacks for laboratory research to kilowatt modules used in industrial applications. This flexibility makes it possible to tailor the solution precisely to individual customer requirements and to integrate it efficiently into existing customer systems.

FAQ - questions and answers
I have the infrastructure to test planar SOFC cells. Can I use it for rDSC cells?
The rDSC cells differ from planar cells in both geometry and stack design, but the basic elements of the system - such as heating and gas supply - remain the same. If you have the infrastructure to test planar cells, modifications may be necessary to the reagent feed and the stack stress system. In such a situation, along with the delivery of the cells, we provide technical support to implement the necessary changes.
What are the advantages of rDSC cells over standard reversible cells?
The rDSC cells have a symmetrical electrode structure, so they can stably operate in both power generation and electrolysis modes without material degradation. The simplified design reduces the need for seals and facilitates gas management, which improves reliability.
What components are needed for the stack to work in both modes?
To operate rDSC cells in both modes, a bidirectional power supply, a gas heating and mixing system (including a steam generator), and a test chamber suitable for mounting a stack of cells are required. Flow control and the ability to operate under varying gas and current conditions are also required. We can supply all this equipment along with the stack and provide you with a complete solution for testing and operation.
